Shalom Hartman Institute is a pluralistic research and leadership institute at the forefront of Jewish thought and education.
The Institute empowers scholars, rabbis, educators and lay leaders to develop new and diverse voices within the tradition, laying foundations for the future of Jewish life in Israel and around the world.
Our programs equip thousands of change agents a year with the skills, knowledge and vision to create a new dialogue between Jews of diverse backgrounds, between classic Judaic sources and modernity, and between Judaism and other faiths.
Shalom Hartman Institute is structured around four centers:
Center for Advanced Judaic Studies
Harnessing the brainpower of leading Judaic studies scholars, the Center for Advanced Judaic Studies pursues research addressing the intellectual, moral and spiritual challenges facing Judaism and Israel today.
Recognizing the critical influence of education on Jewish continuity, the Center for Education provides training and resources that bring Judaism to life for teens of all denominations across Israel and North America.
Center for Rabbinic Enrichment
The Center for Rabbinic Enrichment offers rabbis of all denominations intellectual and professional support to help maximize their pivotal role in Jewish life.
Center for Lay Leadership Education
Deepening community leaders’ knowledge and skills, the Center for Lay Leadership Education enhances the role of lay leadership in building Jewish community and its institutions.
The Shalom Hartman Institute is located on a three-acre campus located between Jerusalem’s Talbieh and German Colony neighborhoods. Our address is 11 Gedalyahu Alon St., Jerusalem 93113 Israel. Directions to the Institute are available here.
